At thirty a man steps out of the darkness and wasteland of preparation into active life it is the time to show oneself, the time of fulfillment

We plan, we toil, we suffer – in the hope of what? A camel-load of idol’s eyes? The title deeds of Radio City? The empire of Asia? A trip to the moon? No, no, no, no. Simply to wake just in time to smell coffee and bacon and eggs.

I’ve been told I couldn’t do it a billion times in the past few weeks but I’m so happy I’ve done the two-sport thing and proved you can do amazing things. I’m glad I’m standing here as a role model showing people you can achieve these things if you put the hard work in.

A book is a bridge to understanding

What makes me most happy is connecting with others. I love meeting new people, being social, and engaging in empowering discussions.

Happiness does not come from consumption of things

Many people think excitement is happiness…. But when you are excited you are not peaceful. True happiness is based on peace.

A poem begins with a lump in the throat; a homesickness or a love sickness. It is a reaching-out toward expression; an effort to find fulfillment. A complete poem is one where an emotion has found its thought and the thought has found words.

People take different roads seeking fulfillment and happiness. Just because they’re not on your road doesn’t mean they’ve gotten lost.

We must mirror God’s love in the midst of a world full of hatred. We are the mirrrors of God’s love, so we may show Jesus by our lives

In a sense, touring is crazy. You go city to city playing the show over and over again. But there’s something magic about being in front of people, so it’s not like going through the motions every night. It’s a different experience.

I’m not crazy about reality, but it’s still the only place to get a decent meal.

It was a joy! Words weren’t dull, words were things that could make your mind hum. If you read them and let yourself feel the magic, you could live without pain, with hope, no matter what happened to you.

We should know what our convictions are, and stand for them
