As a musician, life is not over just because you are getting older, and so I find retirement a very frightening and dark thought.

I kept it quiet ’til my retirement announcement came out.

One of the biggest fears that I actually had was after my retirement to be completely forgotten.

It’s amazing, it doesn’t feel like it has been 10 years since retirement.

This very second has vanished forever, lost in the anonymous mass of the irrevocable. It will never return. I suffer from this and I do not. Everything is unique – and insignificant.

Retirement is just not in my DNA.

That people even in well paid jobs choose ever earlier retirement is a severe indictment of our organizations – not just business, but government service, the universities. These people don’t find their jobs interesting.

Retreat Hell! We’re just attacking in another direction.

Whenever we give up, leave behind, and forget too much, there is always the danger that the things we have neglected will return with added force.

I anticipate with pleasing expectation that retreat in which I promise myself to realize, without alloy, the sweet enjoyment of partaking, in the midst of my fellow-citizens, the benign influence of good laws under a free government, the ever-favorite object of my heart, and the happy reward, as I trust, of our mutual cares, labors, and danger.

God has a plan for your retirement.

Yes, we’ve still got more work to do. More work to do for every American still in need of a good job or a raise, paid leave or a decent retirement; for every child who needs a sturdier ladder out of poverty or a world-class education; for everyone who has not yet felt the progress of these past seven and a half years.

On a personal note, I think it won’t be until after I’ve retired that I’m fully aware of what I’ve done or what I’ve gone on to achieve in my career.

I want to concentrate on winning things with Barcelona and Argentina. Then if people want to say nice things about me when I have retired, great. Right now, I need to concentrate on being part of a team – not just on me.
