I’ve always found drugs and alcohol somewhat pedestrian. It’s like, I don’t need an external agent to open my mind. I’m here, conscious, alert, present. Why would I alter that?

I do think that taking these sort of natural mind-opening and altering drugs does have an effect. Doors and windows that you didn’t even know were in the house are open and you’re seeing views you’ve never noticed before. Even though, when you come down, the world sort of goes back to the way it was, an inkling of that transformed vision and experience of the world remains. I think it’s a little bit medicinal, and over time it sort of builds up a new experience of the world. That’s when I think smoking pot and doing drugs is really good for you, spiritually speaking.

Patent monopoly creates a lot of problems. It allows the patentee to charge the maximum to consumers. This may not be a problem if the patented product is a luxury item, like parts that go into a smartphone, but can violate basic human rights if it involves things such as life-saving drugs.

Now I understand why people do drugs, why people drink, and why people go crazy. As the success level goes up and up and up, the further detached I get from everybody else.
