I’ve never liked rehearsing too much.

Every performance has provided a learning experience, and as we go, we keep fine-tuning the shows. If we decide to do a tour, we rehearse until we perfect. One thing that I do prior to every show is that we huddle the band and pray. We thank more than we ask.

I love rehearsals and I love creating a character, sticking with it until you have something to tell. It’s always different though. Sometimes a director will tell you from day one what they want. Then you throw in your idea.

Acting was merely a pastime; I wanted to make films. But theatre, ah – now that was a labour of love. Can there be anything better than performing without retakes and cuts, in front of people you can see, hearing them breathe in the darkness of the hall?
