Too many Americans live by Republican principles of faith, family, hope and opportunity, but vote for Democrats out of sheer habit.

The more I ponder some of the boneheaded decisions GOP candidates have made of late, I can’t bring myself to believe that they are serious about capturing more than about 8 percent of the black vote.

These considerations and many others that might be mentioned prove, and experience confirms it, that artisans and manufacturers will commonly be disposed to bestow their votes on merchants.

I have always believed the iron rule of politics was that women don’t vote for men who yell.

What better way to enslave a man than give him the vote and call him free? What does it profit a man to be able to vote when he has to choose between a Democrat and a Republican— Tweedledee and Tweedledum?

Giving every man a vote has no more made men wise and free than Christianity has made them good.

I’m very much in the trenches, and I don’t live in the lap of luxury. I come from a working-class military family. We watch the news and read the paper and vote, so there’s always something to be upset about. I always have a certain amount of angst in my back pocket.

If you vote and you elect dishonest, incompetent people into office who screw everything up, you are responsible for what they have done. You caused the problem; you voted them in; you have no right to complain.

Unfortunately, you can’t vote the rascals out, because you never voted them in, in the first place
