I’m a psychologist. I was a psychology faculty member, and then I became an administrator of the department, then the Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences. At the time of the presidential search, I was the dean.
But we looked at it and realised it could be achievable if we managed it right and I’ve got great support from the National Lottery, psychologists, physios and all the coaches.
It was very hard for me to practice and enjoy my tennis, and I didn’t know the why, so I worked with psychologists to try and see what was happening. They pushed me really hard.
I wanted to be a psychologist. You know, I thought that’s what I’d be doing and it just goes to show you that, if you tell God your plans, He will laugh in your face.
