Saint Augustine, also known as Augustine of Hippo, was a prominent Christian theologian and philosopher who lived in the Roman Empire during the 4th and 5th centuries. He was born on November 13, 354, in Thagaste, a Roman province in North Africa (modern-day Algeria). Augustine is considered one of the most important figures in the development of Western Christianity and Western philosophy.
