Robert Mugabe
Robert Mugabe (1924-2019) was a Zimbabwean anti-colonial leader who helped gain independence from British rule in 1980. He served as Prime Minister and later President for nearly four decades, initially celebrated for education and healthcare improvements. However, his rule became notorious for authoritarianism, economic mismanagement, and human rights abuses, including a controversial land reform policy. Mugabe’s legacy remains divisive, with some praising his role in ending colonial rule, while others condemn his later leadership. He died in Singapore in 2019.
