Queen Victoria, born on May 24, 1819, was the queen of the United Kingdom from 1837 until her death in 1901. Her reign, known as the Victorian Era, was marked by significant industrial, cultural, and political change. Victoria became queen at the age of 18 and married her cousin, Prince Albert of Saxe-Coburg and Gotha, in 1840. Their close partnership greatly influenced the era’s policies and culture. Victoria and Albert had nine children, many of whom married into European royal families, earning Victoria the nickname “the grandmother of Europe.” Her reign saw the expansion of the British Empire and significant social reforms. Queen Victoria died on January 22, 1901, after a 63-year reign, making her the longest-reigning monarch of her time.
