Ronald Reagan
Ronald Reagan (1911-2004) was the 40th President of the United States, serving from 1981 to 1989. Born in Illinois, he initially pursued a career in acting, becoming a Hollywood star in the 1930s and 1940s. In the 1950s, he transitioned into politics, first as the President of the Screen Actors Guild and later as the Governor of California from 1967 to 1975. Reagan’s conservative ideology and charisma led to his successful presidential campaign in 1980. As president, he implemented Reaganomics, a policy of tax cuts and reduced government regulation, and played a pivotal role in ending the Cold War, establishing a positive rapport with Soviet leader Mikhail Gorbachev. His presidency left a lasting impact on American politics and conservatism.
