Charles Koch
Charles Koch (born November 1, 1935) is an American businessman, philanthropist, and political donor, best known as the CEO of Koch Industries, one of the largest privately held companies in the world. Born in Wichita, Kansas, Koch took over the company from his father in 1967 and transformed it from a regional oil and gas company into a diversified conglomerate with interests in industries ranging from chemicals to energy to consumer products. Koch is a proponent of free-market capitalism and has been a significant influence on American political and economic thought. His ideas are outlined in his book The Science of Success (2007), where he promotes the importance of individual liberty, limited government, and entrepreneurship. Through Koch Industries and his charitable foundations, he has funded various initiatives in education, public policy, and scientific research. Koch has been a major political donor, supporting candidates and causes aligned with his libertarian-leaning views, particularly through the network of political advocacy groups he helped create, known as the Koch network. Despite controversy surrounding his political activities, Koch has remained a significant figure in American business and politics.
