A. E. Waite
Arthur Edward Waite (1857–1942) was a British occultist, scholar, and prolific writer, best known as the co-creator of the Rider-Waite Tarot deck. Born in Brooklyn, New York, he later moved to England. Waite was a member of the Hermetic Order of the Golden Dawn and a Freemason. His literary contributions include works on mysticism, alchemy, and the esoteric. A prominent figure in the 19th and early 20th-century occult revival, Waite’s enduring legacy lies in his influential tarot deck, which continues to shape the practice of divination and mysticism today.
